چکیده

The main goal of this paper is to demonstrate that photothermal method is an effective tool for detection of geometrical and structural non-uniformities within optically non-opaque, light scattering, planar multilayer structures. The investigated objects were plates of glass coated with silica, cellulose, aluminum oxide, polyamide or octadecylsilane. The thickness of coating ranged from 100 to 250 μm. IR active thermography measurements allow detecting and recognizing typical non-uniformities such as irregularity in thickness, absorption coefficients and physical structure of stationary phase.

Stationary phases for thin-layer chromatography.

This paper presents a review of the literature concerning development of the stationary phases for thin-layer chromatography (TLC) in the last ten years. The silica gel remains the most important adsorbent for TLC separation. The kinetic properties of the silica-gel thin layer and the new TLC plates have been presented. Other materials used as stationary phase were alumina, zirconium oxide, Flo...

Thin Layer Chromatography for the Separation and Analysis of Acidic Carbohydrates

Thin layer chromatography (TLC) is routinely used by synthetic organic chemists and natural products chemists working on a variety of types of molecules. Carbohydrate chemists and biochemists in the past largely relied on paper chromatography for rapid and inexpensive analysis. Carbohydrates are highly polar molecules and often require derivatization to be analyzed by TLC. Acidic carbohydrates ...

What Does TLC Mean?

Among various meanings of TLC like The Last Cigarette—a smoking cessation program that offers numerous resources and tools to assist smokers in their quit efforts, there is also Thin Layer Chromatography, an analytical technique, which can be useful to check the process of quitting smoking and allow to observe differences in nicotine metabolism. The task of this research was checking sufficienc...

The Lipophilicity Examination of Some ACE inhibitors and Hydrochlorothiazide on Cellulose in RP Thin-Layer Chromatography

In this assay, the evaluation of lipophilicity of four ACE-inhibitors and hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) with RP-TLC on cellulose layers was described using three binary solvent systems. The selected ACE inhibitors had sufficiently different structures which can indicate the method suitability for their lipophilicity evaluation as the model substances in comparison with HCTZ. In addition, the linea...

Uncertainty in quantitative thin-layer chromatography.

Globalization forces analysts to demand extended control of variability in analytical measurements. A calculation procedure named the "error budget model" following recommendations proposed more than 20 years ago by the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures is established as a rule for evaluating and expressing the measurement uncertainty across a broad spectrum of measurements. This metrol...
